HISTORY AND VISION

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) is the oldest and largest Irish-Catholic organization in America. The national AOH was founded in 1836 at St. James Church in nearby New York City.

'Daniel O'Connell Div. 2' is a local chapter of the Hibernians, and is the only one that represents Union County, New Jersey. This division originally operated out of Elizabeth, beginning in the 19th century. Though it dissolved in the early 2000s, it was revived in 2022 by Cranford natives and police officers, Tim O'Brien and Joe Stulpin. As the second iteration of Union County Div. 2 gains momentum, it does so with a sense of pride in its history and in its location, so near to the church and city in which this great organization was founded.

The tenets of the AOH have always been Unity, Friendship and Christian Charity. These guide our charitable and volunteer efforts in Union County, Ireland, and elsewhere in the United States. They represent our values as Irish-Catholic men, and as residents of Union County.

If you wish to meet like-minded Irish-Catholics in Union County, and to engage in charitable and volunteer work in the spirit of the tenets of this organization, we invite you to join us at our next meeting, event, or contact us to inquire about membership.

The AOH is our way of being American.
